WeldOffice vs WPS Welding.
WeldOffice from C-spec is one of the best known welding procedure suites in North America, with the broadest code coverage of anything on these pages. WPS Welding is a newer web app that covers fewer codes. This page is honest about that gap.
§ 01
The short answer.
- Choose WeldOffice if you need many codes (AWS D1.2 through D1.6, D9.1, API 1104, ISO 15614, ASME construction codes), ASME interpretation tools, or a vendor with a long installed base for procurement.
- Choose WPS Welding if your work is AWS D1.1, ASME IX or D1.6, you want a published monthly price and a free account to try first, or you want a web app with no install.

§ 03
Where WeldOffice is better.
- Code breadth. WeldOffice lists ISO 15614, API 1104, AWS D1.2 to D1.6, D9.1 and B2.1 alongside ASME IX and D1.1, plus preheat and PWHT tables for ASME construction codes. WPS Welding covers D1.1, ASME IX and D1.6 only.
- Installed base. C-spec says it is used by Fortune 100 companies, utilities and government agencies. If your customer or procurement team wants a vendor everyone already knows, that matters. WPS Welding is new.
- ASME depth. TURBO-IX reviews qualified WPSs for Section IX compliance and TURBO-INT searches ASME interpretations. Pressure work shops will find more ASME tooling there.
- Continuity and NDE are there too. WeldOffice also tracks welder continuity and produces NDE reports, so on records it is not behind us.
§ 04
Where WPS Welding is better.
- Published prices and a free start. Our plans are on the pricing page ($199, $249, $499 a month) and the WPS editor is free with no card. WeldOffice pricing is by quote, and its demos have limited functionality and out of date data.
- AI drafting with rule checks. On the trial and paid plans, AI drafts the narrative and the rule engine checks the essential variables; numbers come from the code tables, not the model. WeldOffice does not mention AI drafting.
- Browser based. Nothing to install, and every seat sees the same records. The audit packet bundles current WPS, PQR, WPQ and NDE records into one ZIP.
§ 05
When WPS Welding is the wrong choice.
If you need API 1104, ISO 15614, D1.5 bridge or D1.2 aluminum procedures, or a vendor with decades of installed base, WeldOffice is the safer pick today.
WPS Welding covers AWS D1.1:2025, ASME Section IX and AWS D1.6. It does not cover AWS D1.2, D1.5, API 1104, ISO 15614 or CSA W47.1 today, and it has no SSO or multi-organization workspaces yet. It is a new product without a long customer track record.
§ 06
