WeldNote vs WPS Welding.

WeldNote manages WPSs, PQRs and welder qualifications and is now part of InduSuite under the name WeldCloud Notes. Like WPS Welding it is used through a web login. The main differences are ISO coverage, how WPSs are built, and pricing transparency.

§ 01

The short answer.

  • Choose WeldNote if you need ISO 15614-1 alongside AWS D1.1 and ASME IX, build most WPSs from existing PQRs (including several PQRs combined), or already use InduSuite.
  • Choose WPS Welding if you mostly write prequalified AWS D1.1 WPSs, want continuity alerts and NDE reports in the same place, or want a published price and a free account with no card.

§ 03

Where WeldNote is better.

  • ISO 15614-1. WeldNote covers ISO 15614-1 as well as AWS D1.1 and ASME IX. WPS Welding has no ISO coverage.
  • PQR driven WPS building. Its Advanced WPS combines several PQRs into one WPS and tracks the approval ranges they support. Shops that qualify most procedures by test will find that workflow well developed.
  • Part of a larger suite. If you already use InduSuite for other welding operations, keeping procedures in the same place is a real advantage.

§ 04

Where WPS Welding is better.

  • Prequalified AWS D1.1 drafting. Most D1.1 work is prequalified. Our editor starts from templates and checks the base metal, preheat and fillet size limits in Tables 5.6, 5.11 and 7.7, with AI narrative drafting on the paid plans.
  • Continuity, NDE and audit packet. Continuity tracking with lapse alerts, NDE reports for six methods, and a one ZIP audit packet are built in. WeldNote’s pages do not mention NDE reports.
  • Published pricing. Solo $199, Pro $249 and Shop $499 a month, plus a free account. WeldNote asks you to contact them for a price.

§ 05

When WPS Welding is the wrong choice.

If you need ISO 15614-1, build WPSs mainly from combinations of PQRs, or already run InduSuite, WeldNote is likely the better fit.

WPS Welding covers AWS D1.1:2025, ASME Section IX and AWS D1.6. It does not cover AWS D1.2, D1.5, API 1104, ISO 15614 or CSA W47.1 today, and it has no SSO or multi-organization workspaces yet. It is a new product without a long customer track record.

§ 06
